Hiking National Park North Velebit
Hiking National Park North Velebit will surely steal your heart with its particularly stunning and diverse landscape. Croatia has a lot of wonderful hikes, but Velebit has undeniably a special place among them. In fact, this is not only the most popular hike through the Northern Velebit National Park but also probably the best hiking trail in Croatia.
The Premužić trail
The Premužić trail is named after its creator, Ante Premužić (1889 – 1979), the civil engineer and passionate mountaineer that built roads and trails on Velebit. As a matter of fact, the construction of the trail was completed in just three years (1930 – 1933), thus making it accessible to tourists. Given that the trail is built using the drystone technique, it is considered a masterpiece of trail building.
Hiking National Park North Velebit along the Premužić trail will undoubtedly really impress you. The trail is 57 km long and it goes through without a doubt the most impressive karst formation you will ever see. Not to mention, this route is providing the easiest possible access to the most rugged and inaccessible sections of Northern Velebit. Another thing to point out is that the difference between the highest and the lowest point of the trail is just 200 m, so the trail is perfect for hikers. The scenery is undeniably nothing but spectacular. Join us on a hiking tour and enjoy both the smell of the sea and a million-dollar view of the Croatian Adriatic coastline and its islands.
